Welcome to the political, social, educational, pictorial and videographical insights of a Detroiter transplanted to Philadelphia.

Singer, guitar player, NPR listener, teacher, coffee drinker and meditator, this tumblog lends to things from the heart.

Not a genius bar of knowledge or a bastion of clever quotes, these posts deliver the heart and soul of a citizen with a voice; a person trying to navigate an increasingly complex world.

Read and enjoy!

The Most Hated Advisory (formerly known as Hurricane Successful) and The Babylons visited Temple University Hospital today for a program called Cradle to Grave.  In this photo you see David O. upon an operating table in a trauma room specifically designed for gunshot wound victims.  It is one of the busiest of its kind in the world.  We followed the story of a young man shot and killed because of a misunderstanding; the red stickers on David’s body signify .40 caliber bullet holes.
In larger terms, we faced the prospects of our own deaths and the deaths of our loved ones.  It was a meaningful day.  Many thanks to Scott Charles, Trauma Outreach Coordinator, Temple University Hospitals.
